There were dozens of ways Baker Mayfield could’ve gone, in terms of determining how successful his NFL debut was; leading Cleveland’s offense to its highest single-game point total since 2007 might’ve been a reasonable place to start. Threatening must-see highlights with every dropback, 2018’s No. 1 pick had style in mind for his first-ever touchdown, zipping a middle-of-the-field dime to his tight end to set the path for a 48-yard catch-and-run. Keeping his foot on the gas with Cleveland just inches shy of a two-touchdown lead, Mayfield rose to the occasion, floating a back-corner fade route to his Pro Bowl receiver. The Oakland Raiders would ultimately survive for a 45-42 overtime win, but Mayfield, brilliant nonetheless, recorded 295 passing yards (on 21-of-41), alongside two touchdowns on Sept. 30, 2018.
