One of the best ways for a rookie to earn increased trust and playing time is to make an impact on special teams. It appears Eagles rookie Will Shipley has taken that lesson to heart, as late in the second quarter of the NFC Championship Game against Washington, he laid a big hit on the returner that knocked the ball free, creating a critical turnover for the Eagles that led to another touchdown before the half. Late in the game, with the lead now comfortable, Shipley was given the keys to the backfield, and he took full advantage of this opportunity as well, first exploding for a 57-yard run that got the Eagles inside the 10-yard line, and later finishing the drive off with the first touchdown of his NFL career. Putting together one of the more unique stat lines in recent memory, Shipley finished with two total tackles and one forced fumble to go along with 77 rushing yards and one touchdown, as Philadelphia beat the Commanders, 55-23, on Jan. 26, 2025.
