Through heads-up plays and chain-moving catches throughout Sept. 15, 2024’s game, Luke Schoonmaker’s name quickly became a commonly-heard one over the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium loudspeakers; one could argue that “playmaker” could've sufficed, as well. Turning a simple shallow crossing route into a eye-opener on second-and-short, the second-year tight end reacted quickly to a slightly-overthrown ball, adjusting to reel in a one-handed, over-the-shoulder reception before churning along for an eight-yard pickup. In what would become the most productive game of his 20-game career to date, Schoonmaker shined with six catches (on six targets) for 43 yards in a 44-19 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
